The anticipation around this year's gaming ceremony was significant, notably after presenter Geoff Keighley posted an enigmatic image of a strange statue. The secret has been revealed. The acclaimed developer is working on a fresh Divinity game.
Revealed to be Divinity, the game was showcased with a bold trailer featuring striking imagery, from a burning man to scenes of revelry and the literal unleashing of hell.
Moving Beyond Original Sin
For those anticipating Divinity Original Sin 3, prepare for a surprise. Larian stated ahead of time that a follow-up to its beloved RPGs is not on the cards right now.
However, the developer referred to this new Divinity as a continuation of the core franchise. This distinction hints that the team might be crafting a more action-oriented experience instead of another tactical title. For now, we can only guess, as only a teaser video is available.
The Legacy of Divinity
The Divinity series is highly rated and arguably it sparked the contemporary revival of complex computer role-playing games. These games are known for rich lore, player agency, and deep class systems—traits that later were perfected in games like Baldur's Gate 3.
While its universe is familiar fare, what makes Divinity apart is the remarkable agency bestowed upon the player.
Where many modern RPGs have simplified options, Divinity is full of specialized paths that are viable by choosing a specific type of character with a unique decision path.
The series is also famously permissive, letting players to improvise both in story and combat. Most missions can be completed in diverse methods, often in lateral fashion.
- You might find an answer because you remembered something a non-human character said.

A New Chapter Begins
It is precisely these elements that allow people to label games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as among the greatest role-playing games of all time. Now, players can anticipate a new entry in this groundbreaking franchise.
