Shocking Recording Captures Point Officers Get Knifed in Unexpected Assault
One ranking policeman who jumped to the help of a partner who was ambushed by a knifeman was granted the King's Commendation for Bravery.
Sergeant Tim Ansell struggled against 27-yr-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he placed a knife to the neck of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown launched his attack as the policemen and their partner, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist following a vehicle incident in that location in summer 2023.
Brown stabbed and slashed both Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster before PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a stun gun.
"Policeman stabbed," the officer stated over his communication device.
Bodyworn and vehicle camera recording released by the force depicted Brown, who was dressed in black with a hood covering head, approach to Sgt Foster from the rear with a blade extended.
He collided with the policeman who lost balance and dropped to the ground, after which Sergeant Ansell intervened and struggled to restrain him to the floor despite being multiple times hit with the weapon.
Police Constable Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and waited for a safe opportunity, concluding the confrontation to an conclusion.
Sergeant Ansell stated audibly: "Please provide help on my throat now, I'm bleeding in the neck."
Sergeant Ansell sustained two lacerations to his neck and further injuries to his limbs and torso, whereas Sergeant Foster suffered slash wounds.
The department said Sergeant Foster utilized his palms to stem his fellow officer's blood loss before emergency responders arrived.
This most recent recognition comes after the trio of policemen received departmental Valor Recognitions in late 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the area officer association in spring 2024.
They were also awarded a North West Bravery Award in summer 2024.
"The actions of each policeman eventually rescued each other and meant no members of the public experienced any harm."
Brown was sentenced to an psychiatric detention in early 2024, per officials.
